Experience freedom and control over your molecular testing workflow like never before with the Panther system from Hologic. This fully automated platform provides test consolidation, random-access sample loading and proven assay chemistry to deliver high performance and results you can trust.
The Panther system provides unprecedented control of workflow, driven by random-access and continuous loading of molecular samples, reagents and consumables. This innovative design enables your lab to improve productivity and accelerate results, ultimately helping enhance patient care, while reducing lab costs.
The Panther system provides unique, innovative and streamlined features.
The only system that gives you control to run:
- Samples as you choose, random access or batch.
- Multiple assays on the same patient sample.
- HPV, CT/GC and trichomonas simultaneously on a single platform.
Integrated automation, enabling you to maximize productivity and reduce costs:
- True walkaway freedom — sample-to-answer automation.
- Run multiple tests from a single sample anytime.
- Bi-directional LIS interface for streamlined data management.
- Automated scheduled maintenance, reducing hands-on time.
Frees your lab from the confines of batch testing with:
- Random access and continuous sample/reagent loading to enable flexible workflow.
- Load-and-go with unattended results processing.
- Auto-reflexing for HPV genotyping.
- Controls or calibrators that are run only once in 24 hours.
Have confidence in your results with:
- Sample chain-of-custody control (PosID).
- In-process checks, which reduce operator and system errors.
- Liquid-level detection and reagent dispense verification.
- Contamination control.
- Quality control (Levey-Jennings and prevalence) reporting.

The Panther system can process up to 275 tests per 8-hour shift, and up to 750 tests in 16 hours. To provide maximum flexibility and menu expansion, the system has been designed for both end-point and real-time assays. The reaction tube takes approximately 3.5 hours to journey through the system for endpoint assays, and approximately 2.5 hours for real-time assays,* before a result is produced. Every five minutes, five additional results are generated. With its impressive level of automation, the design should help improve the efficiency of a typical 8-hour workday, with up to 4 hours of result processing labor-free. The Panther system will continue generating results unattended, providing the maximized productivity that molecular labs need and have been waiting for.
